Cultural factors in the etiology and clinics of depression

Abstract

Depression is known to reflect different clinical presentations in various cultures. Biological approaches may overlook the social component of the disease. Therefore the role o f the cultural factors in the aetiology and clinics o f depression must be carefully identified.

Depresyonun çeşitli kültürlerde farklı biçimlerde ortaya çıktığı bilinmektedir. Biyolojik yaklaşımlar hastalığın sosyal bileşenini gözden kaçırabilmektedir. O yüzden kültürel etkenlerin depresyonun etiyolojisi ve kliniğindeki rolü dikkatle ayırdedilmelidir.
